David Joy, M.S., Counseling Psychology (1976). He wrote his thesis on Guided Imagery as a Therapeutic Tool in Community Mental Health. A concern with imagery has evolved over the past couple of decades to focus around the development of consciousness in the individual and its cultural ramifications. He was a practicing psychotherapist for 10 years with an emphasis on addictions along with dreamwork and guided imagery. In the early 80’s he lived in an ashram in India for a year meditating. At Burlington College he teaches in such areas as anthropology and consciousness studies and in 1997 he became Chair of Transpersonal Psychology. He has been the Director of the Independent Degree Program at Burlington College since its inception in 1993. He underwent Grof Transpersonal Training in 1998-1999, and is one module short of certification. David has been working with Lenny and Elizabeth since late 1998, and has co-facilitated nearly 25 workshops with them over the past several years.
