Focused bodywork in the context of Holotropic Breathwork has two aspects, theory and practice. Learning the practical aspect of bodywork depends mainly experiencing bodywork as a breathwork participant, in-person instruction, and ongoing experience assisting and eventually leading workshops. In terms of theory, Grof’s understanding of perinatal experience is fundamental and grounded in the evolutionary significance of human birth. His profound insight is to link the bodily birth process with psychic process and psychopathology.
In this training workshop we will be spending morning discussions on the theoretical aspects of bodywork and some practical demonstrations of technique, based on our understanding as we learned from training with and working with Stan Grof for many years. Afternoons are set aside for Holotropic Breathwork sessions, followed by evening group sharing.
Format and Cost: This five-day training workshop will begin with supper on Friday evening, August 21, and conclude with lunch on Wednesday, August 26. The detailed schedule for the workshop is available here.
The cost, including food and lodging for five days, is $1,125. The fee for commuters (workshop and meals) is $925. If your commute would be more than 30 minutes or so, we recommend staying onsite because the workshop schedule is pretty full.
It’s important to be present for the full duration of the workshop because of the preparation, closure and integration required to support the breathwork experience.
Workshop Facilitators: This workshop will be led by Lenny and Elizabeth Gibson and Alex Pare. Information about us is available at this page.
Location: The workshop will be held at Lenny and Elizabeth Gibson’s home and retreat center in Pawlet, Vermont. Please plan to arrive Friday afternoon, August 21, between 4:00 to 6:00 PM and depart after lunch on Wednesday, August 26.
