This seven-day training retreat explores History and Theory of Group Process. Group dynamics represent a largely subtle aspect of holotropic breathwork, but they are fundamental to its process. This workshop will consider how groups work and how to manage them effectively in the context of holotropic breathwork. We will explore the history and various instances of group process as well as practical details of their use. Breathwork sessions will offer participants opportunities for developing the self-understanding required for facilitating group process. Participants will have an opportunity to “breathe” and to “sit” or hold space for their partner during four sessions scheduled throughout the week. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss the theory and practice of holotropic breathwork, as well as to engage in group sharing and processing after each Breathwork session. Some participants will have an opportunity to shadow a certified facilitator during the public weekend workshop, allowing for direct application of their training experience. Registration includes food and lodging. Registering as a commuter is also an option. This event will be led by Lenny Gibson, Elizabeth Gibson, Jace Langone, Alex Paré, and other members of the Dreamshadow team.
Location and Format: This event will be held at the Pendle Hill Retreat Center in Wallingford, PA (Philadelphia area). Transportation options are explained in detail at the Pendle Hill website. Please plan to arrive Tuesday afternoon, October 13, between 2:30 to 5:00 PM and depart midday on Tuesday, October 20.
We will spend the first three days as a training group of about 18 people, with morning teaching and afternoon breathwork sessions. The next three days will then be spent hosting a public weekend workshop, consisting of about 24 additional participants. On our final day together we will debrief, reflect, and discuss additional aspects of our weeklong experience together.
It’s important to be present for the full duration of the workshop because of the preparation, closure and integration required to support the breathwork experience.
Fee: The full cost of the workshop weekend, including the workshop and meals and lodging at Pendle Hill, is $1,760. For local participants who wish to commute, the fee for the workshop and meals is $1,205. If your commute would be more than 30 minutes or so, we recommend staying at Pendle Hill because the workshop schedule is pretty full, with days running from about 9 AM to 9 PM.
